Runner-up Borussia Dortmund crushed last-placed Augsburg 5-1 to seal the third straight win while Monchengladbach reaped the fifth win in row with a 3-1 over Schalke at the closer of the 10th round in Bundesliga on Sunday.

Dortmund remain Bayern chaser number one as Marco Reus's brace and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's hat rick sealed Augsburg's 5-1 loss. The "Fuggerstaedter" suffered their seventh loss at the tenth game to stay in the Bundesliga bottom.

The "BVB" opened the scoring with just 18 minutes into the game as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed a combination from very close range. Augsburg wasn't able to respond as Dortmund doubled the lead only three minutes later through Marco Reus, who netted home a square pass by Shinji Kagawa.

Reus and Kagawa were again in the thick of actions as the German international made use of Kagawa's build up play to seal his brace and the 3-0 lead at the 33rd minute.2

Augsburg showed a vital sign after the restart when Raul Bobadilla headed home a set piece to score the consolation goal, four minutes into the second half. However, it wasn't enough against relentless hosts, who picked up the pace in the closing period to round of the 5-1 thanks to the goals number two and three by Aubameyang, who extended his goal tally to 13.

With the result runner-up Dortmund restore their seven-point gap to front-runners Bayern Munich. Meanwhile Augsburg remained trapped in the Bundesliga bottom with only five points from ten games.

Elsewhere, Monchengladbach extend their winning run to five consecutive games as the "Foals" upset third-placed Schalke 3-1.

Monchengladbach dictated the proceedings in the first half yet the hosts had to wait until 32nd minute of the game before Lars Stindl ensured the breakthrough with a follow up shot after a blocked penalty by Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Faehrmann.

However, the "Royal Blues" restored parity against the run of the game as Andreas Christensen deflected Max Meyer's effort unstoppable into his own goal just before the break.

Schalke started better into the second half but Raffael's free kick goal into the top left corner ensured the 2-1 lead for the hosts at the 70th minute. Things changed from bad to worse for Schalke as Johannes Geis saw a straight red card for a rude foul play to substitute Andre Hahn, who was carted off the pitch with ten minutes remaining.

Thus, Monchengladbach took advantage of their superior number to make the game safe with the 3-1 score through Julian Korb.

With the fifth straight win Monchengladbach climb on the 7th place whereas Schalke stay on the third place. Endit
