Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid arrived on Sunday in Algeria to discuss bilateral issues of common interests.

Essid was welcomed upon his arrival to Houari Boumedien international airport of Algiers by his Algerian counterpart Abdelmalek Sellal.

"My visit comes as part of constant consultations between Tunisia and Algeria to boost multifaceted bilateral cooperation in various fields including politics and economy," he told reporters.

The security situation in the region, especially the border security coordination, will be a main topic of his visit, he said.

Algeria and Tunisia are working to establish "exceptional and efficient strategic cooperation between the two neighboring nations to reflect aspirations of the governments and the peoples of the two nations," according to a statement of the Algerian PM office.
