Law and Justice takes lead in Polish parliamentary election: exit polls

Law and Justice (PiS) party took the lead in Sunday's Polish general parliamentary election by winning 39.1 per cent of all votes casted, exit polls have shown.

The second placed was Civic Platform (PO), winning 23.4 per cent, the third was Kukiz'15 with 9 per cent , and the fourth Modern Party with 7.1 per cent, then Unites Left Wing with 5.2 per cent, and Polish People's Party with 5.2 per cent.

Polish Election Commission announced that it expects the final results of the parliamentary election on Tuesday.

The turnout was 51.6 per cent.

To enter the parliament, a party must have obtained at least five percent of all votes casted, while party coalitions needed at least eight percent.

Exit polls have shown that only six parties will win seats in the Polish parliament. Endit
