Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong urged the Palace Museum to improve its functions of conservation, exhibition, research and communication to better preserve and promote Chinese civilization on Saturday.

Liu made the remark at the celebration commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Palace Museum in Beijing.

The Palace Museum, with an extensive collection of artwork and artifacts, is an important symbol of Chinese cultural heritage, witnessing the history of the nation and demonstrating the rich and profound Chinese culture, said Liu.

Liu stressed the Palace Museum, as a world-class museum, should further improve its management and services to better inherit and protect Chinese culture while taking on its social responsibility.

Liu also called on the museum to enhance its role in international exchange and cooperation as well as personnel training, so as to boost both Chinese culture and its own development. Endi
