3 Israeli police wounded in stabbing in Jerusalem, attacker killed

Three Israeli policemen were wounded in a stabbing attack by a Palestinian man in Jerusalem on Saturday, the Israeli police said.
The attack took place at the Damascus Gate, one of the entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem, Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said.
Israeli forces shot dead the Palestinian attacker, the spokesperson added.
The Walla! news website stated that two of the policemen were stabbed by the Palestinian, and the third was shot accidentally by Israeli forces who gunned down the perpetrator.
This is the second stabbing attack in Jerusalem within several hours, as attacks persist amid an upsurge of violence between Israelis and Palestinians.
Earlier on Saturday, two ultra-Orthodox Jews in their 60's were stabbed and wounded in central Jerusalem. The perpetrator was shot and killed by Israeli police.
Saturday's attacks follow over a dozen of such attacks taking place against Israelis throughout the country.
Four Israelis died in the past week in militant attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and dozens were injured in varying degrees in attacks throughout the country.
Meanwhile, Palestinian medics confirmed that a Palestinian young man was killed on Saturday in clashes with Israeli soldiers on the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel.
According to Palestinian reports, 17 Palestinians were killed and more than 1,000 injured since the beginning of the wave of tension and violent clashes in the Palestinian territories.
There are more than 2.5 million Palestinians living under Israeli occupation in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, lands Israel occupied in the 1967 Mideast War.
Hostility escalated in the past month amid strife over the flashpoint holy site of Temple Mount, as Jews call it, or the Noble Sanctuary, as Muslim refer to it, situated in east Jerusalem. Endit
