Troops deployed in Bangladesh capital's diplomatic zones

Xinhua, October 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Paramilitary soldiers have been deployed at diplomatic zones in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka as part of strengthening security measures to thwart any further untoward incident after the murder of two foreign nationals within a week in the country.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops were seen to guard streets at the diplomatic zones, Gulshan and Baridhar, on Saturday night.

"BGB personnel will be deployed for nighttime patrolling in Gulshan and Baridhara streets everyday from now on until further order in this connection," a Home Ministry official said on Saturday night.

Bangladesh last week put its border forces on "highest alert" to stop killers of the two foreigners from escaping.

Japanese national Hosie Kunio was gunned down on Oct. 3 in northern Rangpur district, some 304 km off capital Dhaka, five days after the killing of an Italian citizen Tavella Ceasar at Dhaka's diplomatic zone. Endi
