Migrants to be transited mainly by train in Macedonia

Macedonia's Crisis Management Center (CMC) Wednesday announced that trains will be the first means of transportation for the refugees and migrants in Macedonia.

In case of necessity, other means of transportation like buses or taxis, equipped with appropriate licenses, will also be introduced.

According to CMC, the decision was taken for health and security reasons referring to the migrants and also to the local population.

Macedonia's Interior Ministry Wednesday said that 122,952 foreign nationals have submitted applications for the right to asylum since September. Most of them are Syrians (89,089), followed by Afghans, Iraqis, Pakistanis and etc.

The CMC was assigned by the government of Macedonia in 2009, it holds the strategic position in the Crisis Management System (CMS) of the country. Endit
