Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will do its job and contribute to global anti-terrorism campaign, said BiH Vice Minister of Security Mijo Kresic here on Wednesday.

Kresic made the remarks at the ongoing conference "Foreign Terrorist Fighters - Challenges for South-East Europe", participated by experts and officials on security from the Balkan region.

"BiH is very active (in fighting against terrorism), both on national and international level. We want to contribute to global anti-terrorism campaign and combat all forms of terrorism," Kresic said.

The State Court of BiH on Tuesday sentenced four local men to seven years in total for recruiting people to join the Islamic State (IS).

Kresic noted that BiH changed its criminal law to define departing to foreign battlefields as the criminal act with prescribed sentence from six month to five years in prison.

BiH will not tolerate such crimes, he said, adding that in fighting against terrorism, prevention is very important.

Some 100 counter-terrorism experts, diplomats, security officials, and representatives of the academic community and non-governmental sector participated in the three-day conference, which began on Tuesday in Sarajevo.

BiH Ministry of Security, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Centre for Security Cooperation (RACVIAC) jointly organized the conference.

So far, some 130 BiH citizens had been to Syria or Iraq to fight for the IS, with over 30 killed and around 50 of them back in BiH. Enditem
