Xinhua, October 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Czech Republic will send more than the approved 25 soldiers and policemen to aid Hungary in guarding the Schengen border, said Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka on Tuesday.

The specific numbers will be discussed on Thursday by the interior ministers of the Visegrad Four (V4) group: Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia.

The Czech government on Monday decided to send 25 soldiers, five trucks, and a drilling system to build the fences and field kitchens to aid Hungary. The soldiers will stay two months in Hungary as from Oct. 15.

The Czech Republic hopes to coordinate further assistance to Hungary with other countries of the Visegrad Four. Sobotka said he would like Slovakia and Poland also to participate and contribute to the effort.

Czech Interior Minister Milan Chovanec said on Monday that Czech could send more than 100 soldiers and policemen to Hungary. Enditem
