Sri Lankan president says country gathered support from international community

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena said on Friday that the island nation achieved support from the international community after concluding his tour at the UN General Assembly.

In a statement to the media upon his arrival from New York, Sirisena said the positive response received by other countries at the UN General Assembly should be greatly appreciated.

"During my visit to the UN, I met UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and other world leaders and they all responded positively. We have achieved victory," said the president said. Endi
