Spain's unemployment rises by 26,087 people

The number of people registered as unemployed in Spain rose by 26,087 people in September, according to data unveiled on Friday by the Spanish Ministry of Employment.

The rise meant a 0.64 percent increase when compared with August, but a 7.95 percent fall in comparison with the same month of a year earlier.

According to the ministry the number of people registered as unemployed stood at 4.09 million in Spain.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people in the agriculture sector fell by 12,447, in the industry sector it fell by 4,029 and in the construction sector it fell by 9,902.

On the other hand, unemployment rose by 43,155 people in the services sector as a result of the end of the tourist peak season.

The Spanish Secretary for Employment, Juan Pablo Riesgo, highlighted the annual fall in unemployment, considering as normal a rise in unemployment in September.

He assured the government is working on job creation as "more than 4 million people are looking for a job and cannot find it." Endit
