The first session of the Legislature Parliament after the promulgation of new constitution has begun in Nepal from Friday, paving the way for the formation of a new national consensus government.
The first session began in the Constituent Assembly-turned- Parliament in New Baneswor of the capital at 1:00 p.m. with paying two-minute silence respect to the martyrs. Right after the prayers, Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang read out a letter from President Ram Baran Yadav, summoning the house session.
The first task that the session will carry out is electing a new Prime Minister, followed by the President, Vice President and Speaker.
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala is expected to resign within few days, since as per the new constitution, a new government should be formed within the first week of the resume of house session.
But it has been reported that PM Koirala will step down only after resolving the internal rift with the agitating Madhes-based parties, who had boycotted the constitution writing process. Endi
