Singapore stocks close 0.31 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 8.70 points, or 0.31 percent, to close at 2,793.15.

A total of 1.38 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 888.8 million Singapore dollars (619.7 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 192 to 188, while 557 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 10.96 points, or 0.39 percent, to close at 2,801.85 on Thursday. Endi
