At least 12 militants from the Islamic State (IS) extremist group were killed in clashes with Iraqi security forces in Iraq's western province of Anbar on Sunday, while a U.S.-led coalition air strike destroyed a vehicle bomb factory, a provincial security source said.

In the early morning hours, fierce clashes erupted in Fallujah University compound and the nearby Haiyakel area, just south of the IS-held city of Fallujah, which located some 50 km west of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-IS)

ATHENS -- The death toll of the latest tragedy unfolding on Sunday in the Aegean Sea off the coasts of Farmakonissi island after the sinking of a boat carrying undocumented migrants and refugees from Turkey to Greece has reached 28 victims, including 14 children and babies, according to Greek Coast Guard.

As a rescue operation to locate a yet unclear number of missing was underway Greek authorities said that they have so far retrieved the bodies of at least four babies and ten children next to adults. (Greece-Migrants-Toll)

RIYADH -- The death toll from a crane crash in Saudi Arabia's Grand Mosque rose to 111 on Sunday, local media reported.

YAOUNDE -- Ten people were killed and 14 others injured in twin suicide bomb blasts which took place in Kolofata, a town neighboring Nigeria in Cameroon's Far-North Region, on Sunday morning, military sources told Xinhua on phone.

PARIS -- A man was shot dead and five others were wounded by a group of armed men outside a bar in the southern French city of Marseille, local media reported Sunday.
