War anniversary commemoration is to pursue peace, justice: People's Daily

The People's Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China (CPC), stressed in an editorial to be published Thursday that a V-Day parade is to review the nation's history in order to better pursue peace and justice.

The article said that the joint efforts of the Communist Party of China and the Nationalist Party defeated the Japanese invaders during the World War II, which was a turning point for China's rejuvenation from the humiliated past.

The article stressed that the Chinese resistance against the Japanese aggression established the main Eastern battlefield in the world's anti-Fascist war, which was of great significance to save human civilization and safeguard world peace.

Whether the buildup of world's anti-Fascist coalition and design of international order based on the United Nations framework, China had always been an active participant, designer and upholder, it said.

Seventy years after the victory of the war, there are still few people ignoring historical facts, denying and even beautifying the invading history, which is sheer contempt of history, damage to international order and provocation to peace, the article said.

Thursday's military parade, which is the country's first to mark the anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the victory of WWII, will send a signal to the world to remember history and cherish peace, it said. Endi
