Top political advisor stresses interethnic exchange

Top Chinese political advisor Yu Zhengsheng stressed the importance of interethnic exchange as he met with a delegation representing all 56 Chinese ethnicities on Wednesday.
The group is in Beijing for events marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, and they will go on to tour coastal regions including Shanghai municipality and Jiangsu and Fujian provinces as China also marks the 50th and 60th anniversary of the establishment of Tibet Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region respectively in 2015.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said interethnic interaction has greatly strengthened Chinese national cohesion.
Victory in World War II and the formation of the autonomous regions was made possible through the joint efforts of Chinese of all ethnicities. This experience should be carried forward in realizing national rejuvenation, he said.
The political advisor encouraged all members of the visiting group to take their experiences back to their hometowns and help China achieve the target of building a moderately prosperous society.
Yu also urged them to try their best to strengthen solidarity among ethnic groups and safeguard national unity and social stability. Endi
