Chinese premier meets Serbian president

Xinhua, September 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday met with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, who is visiting China for the country's V-Day celebrations.

Li said both China and Serbia were major battlefields in World War II, and the two peoples fought bravely for national independence and freedom.

China is ready to cooperate more with Serbia in the economy and trade, according to the premier.

He said the China-CEEC cooperation mechanism launched between China and central and eastern European countries in 2012 has become an important framework, citing the Budapest-Belgrade Railway, which is being built by a Chinese company and with Chinese investment.

With China hosting the China-CEEC leaders meeting for the first time this year, Li vowed the country would work with its European partners to make the railway and the meeting a success.

Nikolic said Serbia welcomed Chinese enterprises to join infrastructure building in Serbia and hoped for a successful China-CEEC leaders meeting. Endi
