Xinhua, September 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least 64 students fell ill due to suspected food poisoning in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Wednesday, a senior police official said.

"The incident happened at the Government Primary School at Juggaur in Chinhat area in state capital Lucknow. The students fell sick after consuming free mid-day meal at the school," he said, on condition of anonymity.

All the 64 students have been hospitalized after they complained of stomach pain and uneasiness, the official said. " They are said to be out of danger," he said.

Food safety authorities have collected samples from the school and sent them to the laboratory for testing, he said, adding that a probe has been ordered into the incident. Endi
