Xinhua, August 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former FC Barcelona striker and assistant coach of Netherlands Patrick Stephen Kluivert on Monday launched a program with the UN children's agency to raise awareness of vulnerable children in Uganda.

United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Uganda and FC Barcelona entered a collaboration to use football as a tool to bring hope to hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children in need across Uganda.

Kluivert is in Uganda as part of the global UNICEF/FC Barcelona partnership.

UNICEF in a statement said sport has a unique power to attract, mobilize and inspire.

"Sport contributes to healthy child development; it builds self-esteem and life skills," the statement said. Endi
