Argentine javeline athlete Braian Toledo on Monday qualified to finals at IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) World Championship being held in Beijing, local media reported.

Toledo, 21, was the first athlete to qualify. In his first throw he reached 83.32 meters, 32 centimeters more than the minimum required.

The Argentine athlete, who ended fourth in Toronto 2015 Pan-American Games, was gold-medal winner in 2010 Youth Olympic Games and two years after he was world youth runner-up.

Japanese Ryohei Arai achieved the best record with a 84.66-meter throw, while German Thomas Rohler's throw was of 83.23 meters.

The minimum number of athletes required to qualify are ten but if the amount is not achieved, the best athletes will go to play-offs to reach the final, which will be held next Wednesday. Endi
