Nigeria unveils German table tennis adviser ahead of AAG

Xinhua, August 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigeria unveiled a German, Martin Adomeit, as the technical adviser of the national table tennis team here on Monday.

Banji Oladapo, a senior member of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) told newsmen at the unveiling that Adomeit was contracted based on his technical ability and in-depth knowledge of the sport.

Oladapo said Adomeit's wealth of experience was needed to increase the technical alertness of Nigerian players ahead of the 11th All-Africa Games (AAG) in Brazzaville, Congo.

"We need someone that can give our players the confidence they need when playing and we believe he possesses that quality," he added.

"He was the man behind Nigeria's star boy Aruna Quadri who won the 2014 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) star player award," the Nigerian official said.

The former Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Secretary-General, however, commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) for its financial commitment in getting the German to work for the country.

Speaking at the occasion, Adomeit said he would work hand in hand with the national team's coaching crew to bring the best out of the players.

"I like to work and be on top of anything I do as a coach," he said.

Meanwhile, nine selected players who would represent the country at the Games were also presented at the unveiling ceremony.

The Games will take place from Sept. 4 to Sept. 19. Endit
