KAZAN, July 26 (Xinhua) - Synchronised swimming powerhouse Russia dominated the duet technique at the Kazan swimming world championships here on Sunday, while China finished second.
Russian synchronised swimming stars Svetlana Romashina and Natalia Ishchenko earned 95.4672 points to win the gold, while China' s Huang Xuechen/Sun Wenyan trailed in 93.3279. Japan' s Inui Yukiko/Mitsui Risako were third in 92.0079.
Huang and Sun' s choreography comes from shooting game Counter Striker, and the two girls performed flawlessly, but still failed to surpass the famed Russian duo.
"I think I performed perfectly today," said a confident Huang. "The Russians have always been our rivals, and actually, they are rivals of all the synchronised swimming players. We hope we can beat them one day."
Russian coach Tatiana Danchenko was satisfied with Romashina and Ishchenko.
"This is a home championship for us, so it was important to confirm our status and international leadership. There is no place like home, and our fans are supporting us so much. In general, I am very satisfied with the performance," she said. Endi
