U.S. president praises Afghan forces' courage in anti-terror war

U.S. President Barack Obama has praised the courage of Afghan security forces in fighting terrorists and stabilizing security in the country, a statement from the office of Chief Executive said here Friday.

Obama made the remarks during a video conference with his Afghan counterpart Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah on Wednesday night, the statement said.

During the conference, issues concerning mutual interests including strengthening bilateral ties, rule of law and good governance were discussed, according to the statement.

Apart form extending support to the ongoing peace process in the country, President Obama also welcomed the steps taken by Afghan government to fight corruption, improve economic situation and bolster regional cooperation.

Both Afghan president and chief executive expressed gratitude to President Obama for Washington's support of Afghanistan, and they also stressed importance of further enhancing U.S. cooperation in the anti-terror war and stabilizing security in the war-battered country. Endi
