Tokyo shares end lower on stronger yen

Tokyo shares ended the trading Friday lower on a stronger yen and weak Chinese economic data.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 139.42 points, or 0.67 percent, from Thursday at 20,544.53.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 9.02 points, or 0.54 percent, to 1, 655.86.

Decliners were led by marine transport, nonferrous metal and machinery issues.

The turnover was about 2,076.7 billion yen (about 16.76 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
