Xinhua, July 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nine people were killed, 23 injured and 31 others missing after a tourist bus skidded off the road and plunged into a river in India, officials said Friday.

The accident took place Thursday evening in northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district.

"We have recovered nine bodies and of them three have been identified, besides 23 people injured in this accident have been hospitalized," Rakesh Kanwar, Deputy Commissioner Kullu, told Xinhua in via telephone.

The cause of the accident was being ascertained, officials said. Deadly road accidents are common in India often due to overloading, bad condition of roads and reckless driving. Endi
