2 militants killed, 2 troopers wounded in Kashmir gunfight

Two militants were killed, while two Indian military troopers including an officer wounded in a fierce gunfight near the Line of Control (LoC) in Indian-controlled Kashmir, officials said on Friday.

The gunfight broke out in Tangdhar sector of frontier Kupwara district, about 152 km northwest of Srinagar city, summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"Two militants were killed by our vigilant troopers posted along LoC in Tangdhar, while they were trying to intrude deep into our territory," a Srinagar-based Indian military spokesman said.

"Two army personnel including an officer were wounded fighting these militants."

Media reports said the gunfight started on Wednesday and continued until late Thursday evening.
