Rwandan Muslims Friday thronged various mosques for early morning Eid ul-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Jubilant families arrived together for Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Gaddafi mosque in Nyamirambo, Kigali, mainly Muslim suburb.

The Kigali Regional Stadium which normally hosts the prayers is currently under reconstruction.

In his message, the head of Rwanda's Muslim community, Mufti Sheikh Ibrahim Kayitare, commended Muslims for fasting, and wished them joyful celebrations.

He also urged Muslims to remain united and continue the good behaviors shown during fasting season.

Meanwhile, in a twitter message, Rwandan President Paul Kagame wished: "#EidMubaraka to all our Muslim brothers and sisters in# Rwanda and around the world. My best wishes to you during Eid ul- Fitr celebrations." Endi
