Roundup: Singapore stocks end down 0.54 pct

Singapore shares closed 0.54 percent lower on Thursday, as investors remained cautious despite a rebound in Chinese stocks.

Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index fell 17.59 points to 3,267.40 points. Trading volume was 1.27 billion shares worth 1.2 billion Singapore dollars. Advancers outnumbered decliners 217 to 209, while 545 stocks did not move.

Centurion Corporation dropped 2 percent to 50 Singapore cents. It issued 65 million Singapore dollar three-year bonds priced at 5. 25 percent, lower than the initial 5.5 percent guidance.

The company initially wanted to issue 50 million Singapore dollars, but due to demand upsized it to 65 million Singapore dollars. This is Centurion Corporation's second bond sale. Its first was a 100 million Singapore dollar issue in 2013.

STATS ChipPAC Limited sank 9.7 percent to 46.5 Singapore cents. It said it expects unaudited consolidated net revenues of group for second quarter of 2015 to be approximately 6 percent to 8 percent lower compared to first quarter. The decline in net revenues reflects the generally sluggish demand in semiconductor industry.

Among top gainers, Jardine Matheson rose 1.5 percent to 53.89 U. S. dollars, while Jardine Strategic became one of the top losers by falling 1.1 percent to 30.22 U.S. dollars. (1 U.S. dollar equals to 1.35 Singapore dollars) Endi
