China to release report on MDGS' improvement

The Chinese government and the UN will jointly release a report about China's improvement to implement the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGS), referring to a set of eight anti-poverty targets to be reached by the end of this year.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told a daily briefing on Thursday without giving a specific date of the report.
China is an active participant and contributor to the MDGS and has surpassed most of MDGS, Hua said, adding that China has reduced 433 million poverty population from 1990 to 2011.
China also supports other developing countries to realize the MDGS under the framework of South-South cooperation, Hua said.
According to Hua, the UN development summit will be held in September this year and the summit will review the MDGS and discuss a post-2015 development agenda.
Regarding the post-2015 development agenda as a new start, China will work together with other countries to grow economy, promote social justice and environmental sustainable development, to make contribution to the common development of mankind, Hua said. Endi
