"Poor farewell" against Peru says Paraguayan media

Xinhua, July 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Paraguay had a "poor farewell" from Copa America after losing to Peru 2-0 in the third-place playoff according to local media on Friday although it valued the team's overall performance in the tournament.

"Paraguay suffers another misfortune and ends without podium finish," said online daily Ultima Hora.

Peru's win "meant another misfortune (for Paraguay) after losing to Argentina (6-1 in the semifinals)," said the daily.

Online local daily ABC Color titled their article "a poor farewell".

The newspaper rated the team's performance in Chile under coach Ramon Diaz as "generally good".

"Even in the preliminary matches nobody imagined that Paraguay would be among the four best teams. The recent defeat to Peru left a bitter taste and a few doubts," said ABC Color.

The daily Popular highlighted that the South American team have placed "among the four best (teams), against all odds."

"This image remains of the Copa (America 2015). The image of a Paraguay that's spirited, a warrior and a fighter," added Popular. Endi
