Xinhua, July 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Mexico's delegation for the XVII Pan American Games Toronto 2015 will give the country its 200th gold medal, joining the United States, Cuba, Canada and Brazil as the only countries to reach this record, announced the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM) on Saturday.

According to the COM's calculations, Mexico has won 199 gold medals in the 16 previous editions even though Wikipedia and the U.S. Olympic Committee's official website state that the total is 197.

Whether one or three that Mexico is missing to reach 200 gold medals, the Mexican representatives at the continental meeting will successfully reach and surpass this figure.

In Toronto 2015, Argentina and Mexico will also reach another important number: 1,000 medals won in the Pan American Games including silver and bronze.

Argentina currently has a total of 991 medals and Mexico has 915. Both teams will reach this number which has only previously been reached by the U.S., Cuba, Canada and Brazil.

The Games will run from July 7 to 26. During the first week disciplines include diving, synchronized swimming, badminton, baseball, BMX, canoeing, mountain biking, judo, rowing among others.

There will be 510 athletes representing Mexico in Toronto 2015, made up of 280 men and 230 women. And the delegation is expected to win at least 23 gold medals this time. Endi
