At least eight people were killed when a U.S. drone strike was launched in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Saturday afternoon, local media reported.

Dunya TV said that the U.S. pilotless aircraft fired two missiles at a house believed to be a hideout of suspected militants in Shawal area of North Waziristan, a semi-autonomous tribal area along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The house was leveled to ground following the attack and the residents pulled the bodies of the killed people from the debris.

Identities of the killed insurgents have not been determined yet.

The drones kept on hovering over the area before and after the strike, causing panic among the residents.

Saturday afternoon's strike is 10th of its kind in tribal areas of Pakistan since the beginning of this year.

To date over 63 people have been killed and many others injured in such strikes in the country this year. Endi
