Benfica manager Jorge Jesus to sign deal with Sporting

Xinhua, June 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Benfica manager Jorge Jesus is set to sign a deal with local rivals Sporting, according to local media on Thursday.

Jesus is said to be moving due to a salary dispute and will sign a deal with Sporting for three years. He is set to earn a 4-million-euro annual salary.

Portugal's Securities and Exchange Commission (CMVM) has asked for immediate clarifications regarding the news.

The CMVM, which will make the official announcement due to both football clubs being listed companies, also wants to confirm that Vitoria Guimaraes coach Rui Vitoria will succeed Jesus at Benfica.

Jesus has managed Benfica since 2009 and guided the Eagles through to the club's second Portuguese league title in a row last month.

Sporting won the Portuguese cup on Sunday against Braga but its manager Marco Silva is now expected to leave his post. His contract was supposed to end in three seasons. Endt
