Direct flights between Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, and U.S. Los Angeles will be launched by China Eastern Airlines on June 30, the provincial department of transport announced on Monday.

The first flight linking the city with North America will fly every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, according to the airline company.

The outbound flight will depart from Nanjing at 2 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 11 a.m. local time the same day. The return flight will depart from Los Angeles at 1:30 p.m. local time and land in Nanjing at 6 p.m. the next day.

The United States is Jiangsu's largest trade partner, and the new air route is expected to boost trade between the two, said Wang Zhujun, deputy head of the department of transport. Endi
