Singaporeans help to determine names of eight new navy ships

Singapore's Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen on Friday posted on his Facebook account that eight new Littoral Mission Vessels (LMVs) will be named Independence, Sovereignty, Unity, Justice, Indomitable, Fortitude, Dauntless and Fearless.

Ng said these names were chosen from those suggested by the public, and the Republic of Singapore Navy got an overwhelming response of 12,000 entries.

The Defense Minister wrote that these were "well-chosen and meaningful names", dedicated to Singapore's founding generation who had all these attributes and ideals that helped the country succeed in many battles.

Ng added that the LMVs will replace existing Patrol Vessels, and the new navy ships are "faster, more capable and highly versatile". Endi
