Bangladesh's April foreign exchange reserve hits all-time high

Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserve hit an all-time high of more than 24 billion U.S. dollars at the end of April, said a central bank official on Monday. The Bangladesh Bank official who preferred to be unnamed said that foreign currency reserves reached a new milestone last month, reflecting the country's strength from the economical and financial point of view.

According to the official, the country's foreign exchange reserves stood at 24,086.62 million U.S. dollars at the end of April after reaching at 23,052.97 million U.S. dollars in March.

The country's foreign exchange reserves in February this touched the 23 billion U.S. dollars mark for the first time.

Bangladesh, with a population of about 153 million, needs a reserve of about 10 billion U.S. dollars to meet its import bills for three months in light of an internationally accepted standard. Endi
