Xinhua, May 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

The number of Indonesia's airline passengers for international destinations scaled up by 11.86 percent to 1.1 million in March on monthly basis, the Statistic Bureau announced here on Monday.

For domestic flight, the number of passengers rose by 8.35 percent to 5.1 million in March compared to the previous month, head of the bureau Suryamin told a press conference here.

However, the total number of Indonesia's airline passengers for international destinations in the first three months decreased by 3.54 percent to 3.2 million on year, and for domestic destinations, it rose by 13.07 percent to 15.3 million on yearly basis, he said.

The Indonesian government has aimed to put priority to develop aviation industry as it is the most effective and efficient transport means in the vast archipelago country.

The government has boosted supervision on safety in aviation industry particularly after the tragedy of AirAsia plane crash in December last year that killed all 162 people on board. Endi
