Third major storm to hit Australia's east coast

Xinhua, April 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

Weary Australian emergency workers and residents are bracing for the third major storm system in 11 days to hit the east coast of the country.

The Bureau of Metrology warned on Thursday up to 11 rivers were likely to flood in Queensland and mainly northern New South Wales as a new low pressure system off the coast was tipped to make landfall and pour 400 millimeters of rain into catchments.

Predictions stated the new storm will not be as severe as the one which caused at least 300 million Australian dollars' worth of damage over three days less than two weeks ago.

But the new system will hit areas already battered and flooded by the recent weather events. Endi
