267,000 suspects arrested in China police campaign

Xinhua, April 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Police arrested 267,000 suspects involved in 372,000 cases during the first three months this year in its "Chunlei" (spring thunder) campaign, authorities said Tuesday.

The Ministry of Public Security launched the Chunlei campaign this year to crack down on crimes including arson, hijacking, murder, assault, rape, kidnapping and robbery.

As a result, these crimes dropped by 15.6 percent against the same period last year, according to the ministry.

About 13,000 criminal groups have been busted while goods and money worth nearly 2.4 billion yuan (386 million U.S. dollars) were seized.

The police will continue with the harsh crackdown to guarantee the safety of the people, according to the ministry. Endi
