German companies still willing to recruit: research institute

Xinhua, April 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

German firms were still willing to recruit new staff members in April, the Ifo research institute reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the Ifo employment barometer index in April kept the same level as in March with 108.1 index points, the highest value since March 2012.

The Munich-based think tank said in its report that the very favorable current business situation in manufacturing is also gradually being reflected in recruitment behavior, as more manufacturers plan to recruit additional employees, and wholesalers and retailers are also expanding their staff member bases, boosted by the current surge in consumption.

However, the employment dynamic remains weak in construction sector.

"The main recruitment driver is still the services sector, where companies are keen to increase their employee numbers," the report noted.

Ifo is one of Europe's leading research institutes. Its business climate index is considered the most important barometer for the German economy. Endit
