Eight bodies of the displaced who fled from the violence in Anbar province were found on Tuesday in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source said.
The bodies of males were found dumped in Jihad district in southwestern Baghdad with bullet in their heads and chests, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The victims' families are part of thousands of families who fled their homes in Anbar province when IS militants captured several districts in Ramadi, some 110 km west of Baghdad, the source said.
The incident was under investigation, as the police believe that the killings are seen as a threat to the displaced Sunni families to leave the predominantly Shiite district of Jihad, the source added.
On Monday, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that more than 114,000 people have been displaced by fighting in Ramadi.
About a week earlier, the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) put the number of displaced people from Anbar to Baghdad at 90,000.
According to UN figures, at least 2.7 million Iraqis have been displaced since January 2014, including 400,000 from Anbar province, making the Iraq crisis one of the most complex humanitarian emergencies in the world.
The IS group has seized most of Iraq's largest province of Anbar and tried to advance towards Baghdad, but several counter attacks by security forces and Shiite militias have pushed them back.
The security situation in Iraq has been drastically deteriorated since last June, when bloody clashes broke out between Iraqi security forces and the IS militants. Endit
