Pakistan on Wednesday welcomed the UN Security Council resolution, imposing an arms embargo on Houthis in Yemen.

The Security Council resolution, passed earlier on Tuesday, also called on the Houthis to withdraw from areas they have seized, including the capital Sanaa.

"Pakistan is pleased to note that this GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) led initiative in the Security Council conforms with Pakistan's stated position on the situation in Yemen, in particular our strong support for the unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Yemen and the legitimate Government of President Hadi," the Foreign Ministry said.

A Foreign Ministry statement also referred to the USSC condemnation of the actions of the Houthis and call for resolution of the situation through inclusive dialogue.

"Pakistan calls for full and effective implementation of the resolution," it said. Endi
