China approves nuclear power project

Xinhua, April 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Chinese government on Wednesday approved construction of the Hualong One pilot nuclear power unit, a domestically-developed third generation power project.

Hualong One draws more than 20 years of experience of China's nuclear power operators using the advanced design philosophy, said a statement released after a State Council executive meeting presided over by Premier Li Keqiang.

Approval is in line with the global energy trend, and will help optimize the country's energy structure and build a diversified clean energy system, the statement said. Endi
