Iran president rejects U.S. congress voice on nuclear deal

Xinhua, April 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said here Wednesday that the negotiating partner of Iran in the nuclear talks is not the U.S. congress, which has no say in the potential nuclear deal.

Iran's negotiating partners in the nuclear talks are the world powers, not the U.S. Senate or the House of Representative, Rouhani was quoted as saying by Press TV.

Rouhani reiterated that "The world, the P5+1 group, the U.S. administration and the U.S. President should know that there will be no deal if the sanctions against Iran are not removed."

"The end of the negotiations (between Iran and the P5+1 group) and the time of signing a final deal should be the time of declaring an end to the cruel sanctions on Iran," Rouhani was quoted as saying.

The Iranian president said that in the upcoming nuclear talks, sanctions will be the main focus of the negotiations between Iranian side and the P5+1 group, namely the United States, Britain, China, France, Russia plus Germany.

The P5+1 group is set to resume talks with Iran soon over a final deal after reaching a framework pact early this month, and the Obama administration has repeated opposition to any interference in the negotiations. Endit
