Zambian FA chief terms Africa Cup draw as tough

Xinhua, April 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Kalusha Bwalya on Thursday described the draws for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for Zambia as tough.

Zambia were drawn into Group E with Congo Brazzaville, Kenya and Guinea Bissau on Wednesday.

Bwalya said all the opponents in the group have made major strides in recent ties and should not be underrated.

"It is a tough draw especially that we will start this year and finish next year. So each game will be crucial. All the opponents have made major strides in recent years. We have to be alert not to be surprised," he said.

The Zambia soccer chief said the 2012 Africa Cup winners have an obligation to qualify in order to maintain the country's good football record.

The qualifiers will start in June this year and will end in September next year. The 2017 Africa Cup finals will be held in Gabon. Endi
