Vietnam, Eurasian Economic Union FTA to bring opportunities for Vietnam: spokesperson

Xinhua, April 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

The signing and implementation of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will bring opportunities for Vietnam.

The remarks were made by Le Hai Binh, spokesperson of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a regular press conference held in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Thursday.

"The agreement will open up new markets for Vietnamese products as well as new investment and trade opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises," Binh said, adding that the FTA also represents a major and significant step forward which will bring traditional relations between Vietnam and the members of EAEU to a higher level.

"We are looking forward to the official signing of the agreement in the first half of 2015," Binh said.

According to Binh, Vietnam and the EAEU issued a statement of the fundamental conclusion of the FTA earlier in December 2014.

The two sides have agreed fundamentally on the core contents of the agreement with high comprehensiveness, high-level commitment and insurance of balance of benefit between the two sides, Binh said.

Once signed, it will be the first EAEU agreement between EAEU and an individual country. Endi
