Bulgarian armed forces to participate in 70 int'l drills in next 8 months

Xinhua, March 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian armed forces have traditionally entered an eight-month period of conducting enhanced training, and they would participate in some 70 international exercises till the end of November, officials said Wednesday.

All these drills have been traditionally held, and NATO allies and units from NATO's partner countries would join them, Bulgarian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, over 20 of the exercises with the participation of Bulgarian troops would be carried out in other countries such as Greece, Romania, Albania, Poland, and Germany.

The exercises, all planned in advance, aim to maintain good readiness of the Bulgarian army, and achieve greater interoperability with NATO allies and partners, the ministry said.

Transportation of the equipment and staff involved in the drills would begin in the coming days, it said.

In 2014, Bulgarian armed forces participated in 71 international exercises and trainings, up 54 percent from the previous year, the ministry said earlier this month. Endit
