1st LD Writethru: 21 Taliban killed in Afghan province

A total of 21 Taliban militants including their key commander Mullah Nurullah have been killed and eight others injured in Ghazni province with Ghazni city as its capital 125 km south of Kabul on Wednesday, deputy to provincial police chief Assadullah Insafi said. "The security forces launched cleanup operations in Shirwali area of Andar district early Wednesday morning and till afternoon 21 militants including their commander Mullah Nurullah had been killed and eight others injured,"Insafi told reporters.

Mullah Nurullah was a key commander of Taliban in Ghazni and adjoining areas, the police official said, adding his elimination could be a major setback to the armed outfit in the country.

The operations would continue till strenghening government control there, the official added.

Taliban militants fighting the government have yet to make comment. Endi
