Croatian Minister of Culture Andrea Zlatar Violic filed her resignation in the government on Wednesday.
Zlatar Violic gave her resignation in a formal letter sent to Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic. The government confirmed to Croatian media that it will formally end her mandate during the day.
Talks on resignation of Zlatar Violic appeared last week, after some irregularities were found by Croatian State Audit Office, concerning irregular use of credit cards of the Ministry of Culture in 2013.
In her letter, Zlatar Violic took the responsibility for all irregularities in using the credit cards, but stressed that no money was misused.
She claims that all the money taken from the banking account is accounted for, but it was done in an irregular manner and against the specific decision of the government on using credit cards.
In her letter Zlatar Violic denied allegations in Croatian media, that money was taken for travels that never occurred and for which travel warrants were not presented.
In the end, Zlatar Violic concluded that she is resigning due to these irregularities, although all costs were accounted for.
The Croatian government will name a new minister, and Croatian media speculates that her deputy Berislav Sipus will be the new minister. Endit
