Xinhua, February 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Niger's military said Friday that its troops killed 109 Boko Haram militants but lost four soldiers after a major attack by the Islamists was repelled near the border with neighboring Nigeria.

In their first attack at Niger, Boko Haram militants attempted to invade Bosso and Diff, two border towns in the southeastern region on Friday.

A joint army of Niger and Chadian troops repulsed the militants' aggression, which began on early Friday, said a military source, adding that a civilian was killed in the fighting.

There was no report of casualty on the Chadian army side at press time. Endi
